Consumer - Can't be taken For Granted

Remember, those days when you had purchased something from a shop and later on you come to know that item being purchased is defected or not working as expected and once you get back to the shopkeeper he tells you that "item once purchased could not be replaced or returned".
How you felt at that time??.....obviously you might have felt that you have being cheated.Nowadays things are different there is a tough competition among
brands/companies in order to lure customer to buy their products..customer comes
first everywhere...For an example..Last month i had purchased a Motorola mobile phone...it was the basic model and it wasn't having extra feature apart from having a FM radio. To be honest i don't have any penchant towards latest trendy, flashy mobiles...rather i take it as a necessity. Within 18/20 days of purchasing the set it's FM radio was not working and that was not acceptable at all....i complained about the same once to the service center but then realized that they are not taking it seriously.
I approached the CORE center www.core.nic.in which is an online forum for addressing consumer grievances and it's backed by Ministry of Consumer Affairs,Govt. of India.
I wrote my complaint on the online forum against the brand and within a week
the company officials contacted me and asked me to collect the new Mobile set from them.
So,things had changed a lot in last couple of years, now consumer is someone whom you can't ignore just like that. There are ways to tackle issues but consumer needs to be conscious about his/her rights and should not suffer for the mistakes which they are not part of at all.
